Re: Autumn Bits and Bobs.

Frosty here for several nights now, we were out chasing the Aurora last night, but the moon was so bright it was hard to see it, you can just see green curtains in the centre of the image

Re: Autumn Bits and Bobs.

Seemingly Pumpkins taste similar to butternut squashes, so should make a good soup, though I have never knowingly grown or eaten a Pumpkin.

Re: Autumn Bits and Bobs.

Thanks Tiger, found a pair on there & thanks to Black Friday got a huge discount of £100! Mid waterproof whatever that means but from the pic it looks like the lace up area might be the weak link but not planning to jump in deep puddles. They should have bellows tongues, so they shouldn't let w...

Re: Autumn Bits and Bobs.

You want some hill walking shoes, I pay a bit more for Merrell shoes, but there are others. Be aware whilst breathable membrane shoes/boots are good they are not water proof, just water resistant, something like these perhaps. https://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/womens/footwear/walking-boots/sal:view/?&...

Re: Oh Deer

I'm not so keen on Red deer venison, a bit too strong for me, I prefer a Roe, which being smaller should be less expensive.

Re: Autumn Bits and Bobs.

Even sleepers rot if sitting in the wet, were I to do mine again I would line the inside edges with the pvc that is used to do the soffits on houses, just so they are not always wet.

Re: Autumn Bits and Bobs.

Severe floods again here, we got to our doctors appointments, but an eight mile detour was required to get home on the only road passable which is now only passable in certain vehicles.

Re: Oh Deer

Re wilding is in principle a very noble thing, I would love to be able to go to my local forest and film Wolves, Lynx, Bears and Wild Boar(I might need a reinforced hide to sit in!), but is it fair on those animals? When they lived in the UK the population was measured in thousands not millions, the...

Re: Oh Deer

Red Kites are primarily scavengers with small feet that are unsuited to hunting, this actually means they are doing us a service removing roadkill or other corpses from the land, unlike Sea Eagles, that are very much hunters and there are some serious conflicts happening in Scotland that will no dou...

Re: Oh Deer

The problem with re-wilders is they lack patience and spray animals about like confetti in places where the habitat is unsuitable. I had hoped after the botched Sea Eagle introductions where the "perfect place" decided by the dim if well meaning Roy Dennis was letting them go. They promptl...

Re: Oh Deer

Deer have been allowed to get to large numbers or in the case of Red Deer, encouraged to get to unsustainable levels to make it easier to take folk out and shoot them. In Scotland there are now some large culls of deer, the shops are full of venison at quite cheap prices too. Since man removed their...

Re: Oh Deer

The camera moving on the tripod is one thing I have to fix when using a long lens at distant, but the images are ok, just a bit wobbly.
