Jane, I inherited a stepdaughter when I married Mrs Piglet, who is now 26 and hasnt really shown any interest in gardening until the past year when she often popped down to our plots to see us at weekends, and quite often half heartedly joined in for a while. This grew into having some tomatoes in g...

With the broom Grock, with the broom  ,

did an anonymous guest say something or did I imagine it?

Anyway back to the passata, does anyone have any other variations on recipes to try?

comfrey virgin

I have never grown comfrey before either. Is it really worth all the hype that people attach to it. I may be able to find some room for it if so. Are plants best or growing from seed? And whats all the Bocking business? And no, I havent taken out a subscription to Comfrey weekly just because I haven...

Kids arent particularly my thing, but by all accounts if you give them half a "Mogadon" they are quiet all afternoon until you revive them with a cold wet sponge  .

passata

When in France last year I picked up a passata maker (seeds of italy also do them) which you just half the tomatoes and pop them in a contraption that looks like a mincer but it puts all the pulp into a bowl and all the skins and seeds into another. I then add chopped sweet basil and if required gar...

Corriander

If any of you peeps wish to grow a servicable amount of corriander this year, have a go at this, as we had a cracking crop and enough left over to set seed. Dont buy a little packet, buy a big bag for culinary use from your local Indian grocers shop (as well as being cheap it is generally very good ...

Can anyone suggest a decent early pea that I can sow every fortnight or so for succession that doesnt need too much support and keeps to 3 foot or so.

bottling passata

Hi all I have built a polytunel to grow suitable types of tommy farters in, to make passata out of such as san mazano and roma plus loads of basil. Rather than freeze it all I would like to bottle a large portion (yes) of it for instant use and gifts. Can I "pasturise" it by heating up the...

potato day

I think this is a must Chez, they apparently have over 100 types to try and buy. We are going on the Sunday morning early doors and may pick up a couple of varieties to try in my barrels, as the bulk of our varieties are bought and chitting in the workshop. How can something as simple as picking a t...
