Re: crop rotation
My R. bean frame is permanent so I grow them in the same place every year but I do leave the roots in over winter for the nitrogen and add a good layer of well rotted compost on top and again in the spring; turning it all in before I plant. Never had any problems so far after more than 10 years. Ber...

Re: Waxed discs and cellophane covers
If you use a lot of wax discs and cellophane covers Lakeland are the best place to buy. They also stock the pickle proof screw tops which will fit l lb and 2 lb jars.

Re: What about green tomatoes
Just plain sliced and fried green tomatoes with mushrooms really are delicious and perhaps a rasher or two of bacon.

Re: Clouds and sunsets
I agree with all the comments, there are so many wonders and perhaps we enjoy them more now because we have the time to appreciate them.

Yes, Richard they are about not usually as early as this. We have a farmers/small holding type local shop that has them.

Re: Brussel tops
Thank you both, I wasn't sure if they would need the cold or some frost first. I'm glad I got some strong stakes in at the week-end before this strong wind; when next I go I shall cut the tops and enjoy.

Re: Chrysanthemums.
My spray chrysanths are a disappointment this year to OH. I've never had any problems with them but was going to ask if it is possible to have blight on them. The leaves have gone exactly as the tomatoes have and now all brown and crumbly; Flowers are not opening either. I'm in the process of cuttin...

Brussel tops
Is there a right time to remove Brussel tops to eat? Mine are looking so good now, no white fly either I am very tempted or is it too early.

Re: pruning figs
Many thanks Snooky. I have masses of the smaller thin branches that have grown this year. Looks like I will have to be patient till next spring before cutting back.

Re: Storing tomatoes from a blighted plant
We now have blight on our allotment, my plants seem to have been infected over night, now with black spots on the stems and leaves all curled and brown. I've picked off all fruit red and green with no signs of any blackening and laid them out in the greenhouse. I wondered if the green would be all r...

Re: Can you help
Thank you all for your quick response. I am sure that is the one. I don't know if the stems are hollow OH but your link Alan with the photo I think confirms it. Now the big decision is who is going to be allowed to dig it up and keep it. Maybe we can some cuttings and all share it. Thanks again Beryl.
