Re: Weather!!

It's snowing and blowing down here on the southern tip of the Isle of Wight. It's absolutely bitter. Dogs got a much shorter walk than normal! Hens have refused to come down from their perch in the barn, don't blame them really.

Re: Sea Buckthorn hedge project.

Certainly looks like you'll have enough for a stone wall in front too! I remember a telly prog where they harvested sea buckthorn, lots of orange berries, very prickly work. Can't remember if they thought it was worth the effort... probably Ray Mears, he eats strange things, like Hugh Fearlessly Eat...

Re: Long time no see

Sounds lovely. All for keeping the small guys going otherwise choice goes out the window. If you ever come to the Isle of Wight try the eccentric Red Lion at Freshwater or the Garlic Farm cafe in Newchurch, both do excellent food. And likewise I'm no relation, just a happy eater! The garlic farm are...

Hi Catherine,

It's just getting back in the habit isn't it? I've put it on my favorites bar just to make sure I click regularly!

Good luck getting to the party. The snow is supposed to be getting to us in the early hours of Monday morning down here.

Re: Long time no see

Hi Johnboy,

Sad to hear he's gone. No doubt Allan will be giving whoever's in charge a bit of stick about how to grow the heavenly produce.

Lousy weather today, was that spring we had earlier in the week do you think :?:

Re: Nursery Bed for Brassicas?

An outdoor seedbed was the way it used to be done and one of the major problems was slugs so make sure you use your prefered method of control and possibly a small net or fleece tunnel over the top as well.

Re: Long time no see

I certainly remember you Old Herbaceous and Johnboy... who was the other fella that Johnboy had exciting discussions with? Nice to see lots of new members keeping veggie growing on the up. I used to be a professional in the world of horticulture and it was so long ago that my certificate was produce...

Long time no see

I was sitting at home feeling bored so I thought I'd have a look at Kitchen Garden forum The line at the top tells me that I haven't been on this site since August 2010 and you're all still here! Going strong on the plots and probably on your second sheds by now. It must be all the fruit and veg... ...
