i also use supermarket mushroom trays as seed trays.... 11 beans per tray. our local veg shop used to get broccoli in polystyreene boxes... lined with plastic from a compost bag , two mushroom trays fit nicely. half inch of water in the bottom keeps the seedlings watered and a sheet of clear plastic...

ive got an old bath that fills itself with rain water, it gets a dollop of woodash, a clump of stinginging nettles or whatever chucked in now and again , the turgid brew is occasionally used diluted to water whatever i think needs it. not in anyway scientific

the price and quality of supermarket veg has made me quite picky as to what ill devote space and time to. especially on winter harvested veg.

about time to get the strimmer out to attack some of the stinging nettles in the flower beds, but the wild bees were on the ones in flower yesterday

got some broadbeans in pots that need transplanting

car boot sale should be on on sunday so might go to see what tomatoe plants are on offer.

what about the foundations of unheated buildings , garden walls etc? empty septic tanks will float out the ground on water, but i doubt theres many stones that are less dense than water. but if your stones are less dense than the surrounding compacted water logged soil they might have a tendancy to ...

probably set too lean ,an eigth or quater turn out on the mixture might fix it , but if your happy to use carb cleaner carry on. only thing id suggest is to pull it over a couple of times before squirting the carb cleaner, just gets a bit of oily petrol in there to lubricate the cylinder and piston ...

personally id go with mains electric, provided you can get a long enough extension lead, the downside to a battery one is charging batteries, the lithium ones are a lot better than nicads, but they are pricey. ive actually got a ryobi 18v battery strimmer, it does what its supposed to, ive actually ...

oh xxxxxx ive been doing it wrong for xx years i grow toms in the ground in the centre bed of a 30 foot polytunnel.... i use a bog standard lawn sprinkler does half the tunnel at a time, once theres a load of plants established i normally set it going on a sunday morning working up to a nominal hour...

about the only difference between mower makes is the deck and the handles , everything else is bought in . engines are either briggs and stratton , tecumseh or honda.... or a chinese copy on the diy shed machines youll even see the same decks with different names on. plastic decks are light and dont...

metal blades only need replacing if they get bent by hitting something hard, takes a lot of sharpening to wear them away.
the less said about plastic blades the better.

i start the seeds in a tray, then dig out lumps of compost to transplant, avoid gripping plants at all. but delicate stem must be a no no.
