Allan, not quite, but almost . In my mothers 3/4 acre wooded garden a couple of years ago I coppiced a large quantity of hazel during the winter and shredded it. Bagged shreddings just went very very mouldy, clouds of grey dust when decanted. General open heap went brown and soggy. Mixed evenly in e...

My lottie neighbour has some on the go outside all year round.

For protectin he has what amounts to an unfilled plank raised bed and then lies an old secondary double-glazing pane across the top, with a bit of wood at one end for ventilation.

Lizzie's advice on hand tools is spot on, except she forgets a good fork and good secatuers . I would emphasise good , DIY store own brand is a false economy, I bought my son a spade and the damm thing bends when you try and turn over soil. Machinery. Depending on how you do your vegging, what scale...

Piglet, unless the EU have been on the case I assume you meant 18" not 18' as that would be one heck of a trench.

On a more serious note, is it not the case now that all external (and internal) home wiring now has to be done by a certified electrician?

Forum Search Rating in Decline?

Mr PH, how are you going to get the search engine hit rate (mentioned elsewhere by Clive) back to what it used to be?

Thinking on what Clive said, he is right, the forum does not seem to be as lively as it used to be, thought the regulars still are.

As another helpful idea.

Before making changes to something you have typed do <Ctrl><A> that selects it all then do <Ctrl><C> which copies it all.

Alternatively do all the typing in Notepad or Word, then copy and paste it into the web page.

Compo, is the text highlighted when you are going to the emoticons, cos that would be selected and you would then be replacing it with the smiley. Just click the mouse at the point you want to add the smiley.

One of our plotholders has covered "his" length of boundary with honeysuckle.

Fairly easy to strike cuttings from and it has re-rooted itself along about fifty foot of fence, he seems to have no problems with giving it a haircut with shears and it is quite lovely when in flower.

Chantal, thanks for that about the cat.

Half office now thinks I'm ill I laughed so much.

Fortunately my dog is easier to fool. So long as you have another bit of food in your hand the bit with the pill in goes straight down to ensure she is ready for that second treat.

Please, please, please, do post the snapshots from Malvern, where decency allows.

Alas, I did not have particular fashion faux-pas in my youth, though my friends may say differently.

Balaclava's don't work as plant killers, I tried them on a laurel bush once.

A copper nail in any main stem should work, albeit slowly, great advantage is its near impossible to find.

Before anyone asks I do not know how many nails a Leylandi would need.
