cherries dropping
Immature fruitlets can drop even on standard trees when the pollination is incomplete due to a cold wet spring. (which 2005 was) Also if too many are produced the fruit may need to be thinned. It is the trees natural way of shedding its load. Irregular watering maybe another reason. This can also ha...

sowing seeds
I am sure you will all get a good germination with early seeds but the light levels are still very low this time of the year which can result in leggy seedlings and possibly damping off. Far be it from me to put anyone off having a go though but a little patience now might pay dividends later with ...

labels
You can buy small machines that will punch out the labels for you but they can be expensive. Staples and office suppliers stock them and possibly Avery. I make my own on the PC and laminate them then staple to a piece of dowling. They will last about 9 months before fading. For longer life cover wit...

rabbits
I maybe wrong but I thought bunnies were pretty good at burrowing under the wire.
We kept rabbits as pets and there was always one that would dig under the 'wire run' when out on the lawn. Pretty good at jumping too we had to keep a lid on it.
Best of luck

Big Dig
As it is in the Feb 2006 issue I take it to mean 2007 but as no date is set - who knows?

Big Dig
There is a letter in the Feb. issue TKG, page 21.
from Ralph McMillan. regarding the Big Dig.
Steve's comment says: 'I hear on the grapevine that the show will be aired next year, but no date has yet been set'.
We will have to be patient.

Over wintering snails
Very good advice Sally which reminds me to check all empty watering cans for snails. They have a habit of staying snug up the spout all winter. Also round under the rim of pots. I did read somewhere too that it was not a good idea to store hoses in the greenhouse - something to do with the toxins t...

confused.
I'm totally confused. It all takes longer than the old TKG forum. At least then once on it was easy to scan down the questions.
I will persevere but I am not sure I will be back too often.
