I notice nobody has come up with an answer for you. We get RHS seeds each year and they send notes with them but they haven't distributed Magnolias so no help there. It is possible there is something on their web site but that can be time consuming. Chiltern Seeds - "Grow something new from see...

Might but what is healthy? Personally I would prefer a youngster to eat an apple complete with all manner of residues than no apple at all but the organic thought police wouldn't allow that. As we have said many times we want pragmatic produce to be available that is contaminant free but produced at...

Depends whether you like accuracy in your fertilser applications or not. It is a source of potash and will benefit most fruit, gooseberries are I think particularly fond of it. You can't do much damage to anything but for a crop like onions I would want more accuracy. If you have no other use for it...

Great pictures! I wish somebody would tell me if the energy we use contributes to Global Warming. If it has a significant effect most of the renewable solutions are pointless (apart from conserving fossil fuels) and only not using energy is really worthwhile. It would be better to barrage the Thames...

I made one once from two concrete paving slabs as sides with some stainless Dexion and threaded rods to hold them apart. I bought a piece of aluminium sheet as a backsplash and a charcoal tray and grill that I am pretty sure was Black Knight. A quick Google hasn't turned up what I bought but more ef...

Wonderful post Paul, thanks for that. You must be close to the subject to have so much detail so can you explain why a paper chase can clearly show how the problem arose but not prevent it? I thought there was a sort of passport system that released animals into the food chain, or is that only for b...

Last couple of days radio has been focusing on obesity - guess what, the Soil Association believe organic food can reduce obesity. I didn't think it was that unpalatable though some of the stuff I see labelled organic would put me off my food.

Yes, the best team won.
If you were a cynic you would say they knew our lineout signals but in reality we just had no idea how to win one - the one clean fast ball ended up as a knock on as the receiver was so shocked to get it so soon.
Not much of an advert for the game though.

The problem is there is too much design in the world.
There you are struggling to put your pants on in the dark until you realise some other numpty has moved the label to the side - why did they do that?
