Sorted; the cavalry arrived around 4 pm ie my landlord. Weary man as he had been up half the night with a calving cow with the baby the wrong way round. Nevertheless we waded in. And when he hopped over the fence and opened the cap, all was well there. So it was the pipe from the house that was well...

Solid heavy Irish rain here. Irish rain is of course wetter than rain anywhere else. :wink: Nipped out to pick the few daffodils not slug chewed and not going out there again until I bring coal in..May sort trays etc later.

Marigold I can't believe you have lived in Wigan and never heard of pie eater, it's as famous as a Wigan barbeque( four pies in the oven with the door left open )or a Wigan mixed grill (pork pie steak pie and meat and tator pie )all on one plate with a few chips. Big Derby day around here st.helens v Wigan every thing stops but I still have to go and feed the chickens as well as dropping of what Easter bunny has left for our grandchildren trouble is the son in law is a wiganer or pie eater as they are known I was born in Wigan! Actually never heard the term...

Lambs....

I had to stop by a field on the way home yesterday to watch the lambs! Utterly captivating. There are ewes along the private lane here but no lambs yet. On the way into Killarney a black nanny goat with a tiny black kid... But the lambs! I assured them I do not eat meat of course.

Same here in Southern Ireland on March 31st. Not fussed as my wee dog is never off the premises and never unsupervised. I am very remote rural here.

We have a gale warning for today followed by deluges which will last until Monday night.. will maybe sow indoors. Want to set potatoes in containers; Good Friday was always the traditional day for that.

Oh GEE! I have been here nearly 4 years and the house was empty some while before that and then there were the renovations....Skating on thin ice these people. New regs came in a short while ago re rural septic tanks and many have been faced with replacing and/or huge fines so my dear landlord will ...
