Re: Parsley-sage-rosemary and thyme ?
Don't use ordinary salt only celery salt, tend to just use fresh ground pepper for seasoning.

Re: Parsley-sage-rosemary and thyme ?
Hi Rich(that's my proper name too), thanks for the welcome. Re wild Garlic, just follow your nose when it's coming into flower, if you can't smell it there's none to be found, it seems to prefer shaded areas around here, often by river banks. I do a fair bit of foraging and for those interested I ca...

Re: Storing Seeds
Apart from Parsnips that should always be new seed, I often buy seeds in the sale and don't have germination problems.

Re: A view of my garden
I did have one bed covered last year Westie, with roots in it, carrots, beets, celeriac, parsnips and bulb fennel. Not all were successful though, the fennel went to seed and the celeriac was small, the rest were great, but I lost the under planted lettuce to slugs, they ended up as sacrificial plan...

Re: Greenhouse disinfection/tomato leaf mould
Just need to remember the key rule in growing, crop rotation, I have heard of people planting tomatoes in the same soil every year, eventually problems arrive. My plan this year is to use the soil as it's a new greenhouse on soil that has not had anything growing in it the last 10 years, next year I...

I might grow a few more herbs as we are cooking with them more, starting a list and this is inspiring.

Re: Mid-winter Bits and Bobs - 2016/17
Looks like another frost for us tonight, so I've not potted on the leeks and Onions just yet, still their modules. Once we get a warmer spell I'll get those out of the heated propagator, harden them in an un heated propagator and then I can plant Chillies and Peppers in the heated one.

Re: Storing Seeds
I try to sow most of my seed each year and don't save much, but what I do save is in their packets, not in a box nor in a fridge, guess I've been lucky in the past just leaving them in the shed.

Re: Greenhouse disinfection/tomato leaf mould
Did you use the Jeyes on the soil as well, I always used to and never had problems, you might also consider growing in pots and give the soil a break from growing the same crop in the same place.

Re: A view of my garden
Thanks OH, the plan is for 3 plants of each tomato and pepper variety and one Melon, a dozen or so sweetcorn and that will be full. Some of the tommies will go in hanging baskets to save room and I think most of the chillies will be in pots so I can put them in the conservatory if I over winter any....

Re: Hi all
Thanks Shallot man, coming up to a busy time of the gardening year and I ended up in hospital, on the mend, but have to have keyhole surgery to remove my gallbladder in the next month or so.

Re: A view of my garden
Ah it worked, I have three of these raised beds, used them last year for the first time, the greenhouse is brand new, been around 20 years since I had one, really looking forward to using that this summer. The plan is for 5 different types of tomato and 4 different chillies and peppers, bulb fennel ...
