fence and shed paint sprayers
Hi, Has anybody any experience with fence paint sprayers. We have just had 29 new bright orange pannels in our garden, and they are a terrible colour to look at. If we paint them by hand it is going to take ages, so are the fence sprayers any use or is it just good advertising. Thanks Tracie

I soak the seed for approx 1 hr before planting in a seed tray. The seed has a germination inhibitor coating, but if you soak first you will get 100% germination. I never use root trainers, just any old seed tray or any old pot and they are always brilliant. I usually grow Boltardy. Hope this helps

I am begining to wonder if there is no set system for dealing with the green composted waste.
It took a while before our council would tell us what happens to it, I wonder if it is some sort of state secret.

I would like to know like thousands of other allotmenteers where I can get a 15 tonns of free compost for our allotment site!. Having contacted our local council we have been told that all of the green waste is composted locally and taken to a farm where it is used as a soil improver. The compost is...

Every year one of my espalier apple trees has loads of fruit, but the apple skin has blotches on it. The fruit is fine and they taste fantastic but the skins look like a teenager with acne. If any body has any ideas that would be great. I would like nice looking apples this year for a change. Thanks...

I have strawberries, hoping for an early crop, so long as the mice do not get them first.
Spring Cabbage in large pots to put outside when the weather improves.
Is it the right time to plant some early spuds in bags, or is it still a little too early.

Hi everybody, a good way of keeping your peas, broadbeans, and any other seeds you do not want the mice to eat is to buy some extra strong mints. Crush the mints into tiny bits and sprinkle on the tops of your pots or seed trays. The mice smell the mints and not the seeds so the seeds do not get eat...

Hi Allen ,
thanks for your reply, do you need to protect the crop from the pigeons and cabbage white butterfly or can it be left uncovered?.
I have an Italian friend who I will ask about Ribollita.
regards

I am getting ready for the usuall glut of toms, I usually make some tomato and Chilli jam which is great.
Today I went out to lunch and had some fantastic sun dried tomatos in olive oil on my salad. Is there anybody out there in allotment land who has recipe that I could try.
