I wonder how many of the good people who open their gardens for charity go round afterwards to find plants with cuttings taken off and bits missing off the side of clumps of perennials? I bet that's 'old lady' syndrome!

I had the red bottomed bees in my heap last year,they are solitary bees but like to have their seperate nests in a group together.I left the heap alone till autumn when they had disappeared,they have not come back this year.

I think Weed is right,it's when they get up to the really cold stuff and moisture from the engines forms ice crystals which is ,I believe,what we see. Unless someone was pulling my leg many years ago.......

I go for seed now,I find I get less bolters and there's a greater choice of varieties too. You do need to have somewhere to start the seed off in January or February though but they don't need heat for growing on a cold greenhouse or a frame will do.I sow into a small seed tray on a heated tray and ...

It's so obvious to us but not to the councils,if you don't make it easy and accessible then people will fly-tip! I have asbestos guttering round my house and I'm not even going to think of changing it because I know I'll be ripped off on disposal charges.

I picked a 'Latah' before any of my greenhouse toms were ready,it was in a pot by my suntrap of a front house wall....my house is black clapboard so it probably had a lot of reflected night-time heat. I've never thought of red as a colour for bringing plants on...we might have another experiment com...

Cobra is a mainstay of my bean crop,you'll get fed up with them in the end Ken! It will be 'Oh no,not french beans again'! They are a fantastic cropper.I'm growing Cher.TOT.for the first time as well and they look good at the moment.
