Re: Gardening Guild John Yeoman

Hello folks, I happened upon a thread relating to John Yeoman and his books, and since I belonged to the Gardening Guild when it was functioning, I tried to get to gardening guild.org as mentioned in a post by JY himself, admittedly some time ago. Re: Please can we have some more 'funnies'?

It goes so fast!

The summer, that is! Or at least it seems to do when you live in Wales and raise poultry! Here the first of May is known as Calan Haf, the first day of summer; June is Mehefin, the middle of summer; July is Gorffenaf, the end of summer; to be followed by September, Medi, harvest-time. As for the pou...

Boris Johnson walks into a Bank to cash a cheque. As he approaches the cashier he says, "Good morning, Ms could you please cash this cheque for me?" Cashier: "It would be my pleasure. Could you please show me your ID?" Johnson: "Truthfully, I did not bring my ID with me as I...

Re: I'm in love.....................with ducks!

Ducking moves on apace. A hatch of eighteen Welsh Harlequins are now independent six-week-olds. Thirty black Cayuga eggs are in the incubator, ready to hatch on Thursday. And the latest venture is Saxony ducks, three ducks and two drakes. They will be for breeding from next spring. They are a very r...

Kaiser is now a happy boy! His three new girls have been with his for nearly four weeks now. They were three different ages and all a few weeks younger than him. But he looked after them like a mother! Now they are growing to catch up with him and getting their white feathers. They are Gretchen, Gre...

As it is written in the Book of Ecclesiastes: "To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted". Even now I live in the relatively mild northwest of Wales, I ...
