Re: Tomatoes

I've had an excellent tomato year. Went down to lottie today & still had ripe tomatoes - unfortunately also had blight damage but it was their turn to go anyway, but still think for 3rd Nov outdoors that is pretty remarkable!

Re: The Angina Files.

Great News PJ! You must have expert cardiologists if procedure was transmitted to the States! NHS is still proving it's worth! (Wonder what that will cost the poor patient's in the States??)

Make sure you follow doctors orders then - back on the allotment! :)

PS Don't touch it (manure) until told though - infection risk is quite high!

Re: Batten down the hatches .....

House intact but lost another roof pane on my greenhouse. Went down to lottie to secure everything in the afternoon and found my netting & black plastic all off but thankfully caught up in the fence - this was before the storm so will be interesting to see what's left now! Few trees down on the ...

Re: Wish I hadn't done that moment of the week

Care Quality Commission & we are part of the new pilot. It's pretty stressful but they are going to have so much more credibility in what they report - crawling over the place! 20+ inspectors (4 previously), professionals & members of the public are inspectors, invited in the public for thei...

Re: This is such a wonderful project.

Wow - that was great! I'm sure there are innumerable benefits to those residents both physically & psychologically! Can't see too many homes down here allowing it - there would be some health & safety issues they would put up to block it! We do have one wonderful home (& it is social ser...

Re: Facebook

Send a personal message to your nephew's friends & colleagues & they could send you the instructions or could send you their e-mail address & you could forward the photos you have as an attachment for them to load on the memorial site. They would probably get great pleasure from this as ...

Re: ONION SETS

I haven't intentionally but have had some littlins drop off the drying frame. They always bolt so wouldn't consider it but these escapees keep the bees happy.

I don't know how you would heat treat them to prevent this but bet it is on the internet somewhere.

Re: Roaring weather and work to do...

I'm behind but being surprised by what is actually surviving & still giving a harvest so feel a little smug with all the other plots around all bare but I'm harvesting salad, beans & toms plus of course what expected this time of year! Today I got soaked but I had to go down as was getting w...

Re: Please can we have some more 'funnies'?

Pensioner's reply re Tesco Didn't like shopping there anyway. Yesterday I was at my local TESCO’ store buying a large bag of Winalot dog food for my loyal pet and was in the checkout queue when a woman behind me asked if I had a dog. What did she think I had, an elephant? So, since I'm retired and h...

Re: You grow. Who cooks?

I'm the gardener and the cook. The other half will dig a bit in the garden but I don't let him in the kitchen. He can cook & quite well but follows the recipes exactly & lines up all the ingredients first - trying a new curry or something with lots of different spices he uses every spoon to ...

Re: Do ladies appreciate sharp knives ?

Oh I appreciate a sharp knife but obviously not speaking on behalf of all the females out there! I spent way too much on some Global knives & they probably get a fortnightly sharpen. I used to have a water sharpener that was fab but got a file type one now which is pretty good as well but always...

Greenhouse perspex!

Little blighters at the school behind have broken the glass in the roof of my greenhouse - full roof panel. This happened a few years ago & I had to replace 2 sections & after much confusion with measurements I got Perspex & have been so much happier & relaxed with their ball games. ...

I have moments of thought like that as well but then remember the years of blight ruining my crop - & search another recipe! :D Still have some beefsteak actually ripening on the plant in the greenhouse - so fingers crossed!
