Took a while to figure out how to make this, but finally it's done! A strawberry wall made of wooden pallets. Used other pallets to close the bottom gaps and cut a few rectangles of anti-rooting cloth to make it root proof.

Where to find iron and manganese?
One of my tropical guys is developing an iron, magnesium and manganese deficiency. It appears to be a very common deficiency but how do I get iron and manganese? I could buy fertilizers, but are there any natural / compostable elements that contain it? Magnesium is not needed as I already have somet...

Re: Sideways photographs.
I figured that if I view a picture in my gallery and take a screenshot of it, then upload the screenshot, it will show in the right direction. On most Android phones you can take a screenshot by holding the menu and volume button and the on/off button at the same time. On new Android phones (S20) yo...

Re: Corn
The local farmer adviced 6-8 inches between the corn plants, and as I'm growing in a small space I did 6. Perhaps I should grow corn salad inbetween! I don't know, this seems like a good match

Re: Corn
It's definitely a lot of corn, and some more will be planted next to it for a later harvest. How do you all grow your corn this year?

Wooden strawberry pallet walls
Is anyone using wooden pallets for their strawberries? I'm starting to wonder if those spaces are large enough for two strawberries or even three plants? 20200509_143103.jpg And also thinking about ways to close the bottom gaps. I was thinking about getting another wooden pallet and using the planks...

Re: Hazelnut propagating failure
Thank you, now I know what went wrong here. Unfortunately it was all or nothing this time, because the pile of dirt had to be removed and so did the tiny hazelnuts. I thought I could save them and keep them by digging out immediately. I'm cutting away the lower leaves and keep them in shade as much ...

Re: Hazelnut propagating failure
I think you're right. Would it help to prune them back? Perhaps the roots will stay there so a new hazelnut tree may come up?

Hazelnut propagating failure
The other day I was working at someones garden. There was a huge hazelnut tree and some of the branches were burried under a pile of compost and dirt. It was put there temporarily but tbe branches of this hazelnut tree started rooting and tiny hazelnut trees grew out of the pile. With the best care,...

Re: Kiwano (horned melon)
That is actually an amazing idea, and indeed I have plenty of spare plants to cover the risk. I assume it won't be freezing anymore and temperatures will stay here or get warmer, the weather does not predict any lowering tenperatures either but it's raining a lot. I'm not going to complain about that

Re: Kiwano (horned melon)
Time to plant the little guys! Because I like to experiment with this I'm putting a kiwano inside the greenhouse, but also one in a container outside (just like last year). If the season is too short there will always be a possibility to move it into the greenhouse. Right now the plants are -admitte...

Re: Kiwano (horned melon)
It was a lot of work (and still is) The previous owners, they are no more... I'm pretty sure they will admire their former garden from heaven. Knowing their hard work was not wasted, to keep the clay soil fertile and clean. But I promised myself to keep a place to sit on the patio. In reality it wil...

Re: Kiwano (horned melon)
Kiwano is originally a creeper that crawls the entire floor. When they get older they will look stronger as well! The fence has been placed and I haven't planted anything nearby so everything is still alive and well! No boots in my garden There's garden fleece over the greenhouse to protect plants i...

Re: Kiwano (horned melon)
Elmigo , only three of ... on your flat balcony. I think mine only look healthy because they're in a group so more green in the picture. The first leaves suffered from sunburn for me as well, and I eventually removed the bad leaves. The plants look skinny in the beginning. And if they don't have so...
