pallet dismantling
Hi Ya. I get quite a few pallets and use them for compost bins etc, I have been looking at purpose made tools for the dismantling of them as a hammer and crowbar tend to split them. I recently saw and advert for Cargo-cycles pallet tool and am considering the purchase of one these tools. Has any one...

Re: VOLCANIC ROCK DUST
Hi Ya again, Having reread the article I see now that the initial outlay could be very high even though they say it will last 5 to 10 years. I suppose a heavy ground will hold nutrients better than my sandy soil. Quite an expense and would you reap the benefit. Judging by the cost of the humble spud...

Not really sacrificed as like you I had to attend under pain of death. mine. My OH doesn't seem to realise I work with people all day everyday and sometimes get fed up with their wingy winey ways so the lottie is my bolt hole. I plug in my ipod and I'm in my own world. No it's not selfish just you w...

Re: VOLCANIC ROCK DUST
Hi Ya, Geoff, ut that way I see your point. as you nsay the application rate for b/f/b does seem low. I am only going to try a small area and as shipping rates are so high is why I went to b&q. I wonder how much it works out with shipping then? Still only a trial and as for alchemy that's way ab...

Re: VOLCANIC ROCK DUST
Many thanks Colin for the link. I had been using the wrong terminology to do my search. I am on sandy soil and this is why I'm interested. I have read articles but wanted to see if any one has used it who wasn't trying to sell it as the articles were/are all biased to sell it. Johnboys comments are ...

VOLCANIC ROCK DUST
I read an article about volcanic rock dust from scotland I think and am tempted to try it. You can get it from B&Q's. Has any one ever tried this dust? and if so do they think it does the job or not? The write up said about atrial farm and claimed it really inmproved the soil mineral content. I ...

Re: Sowing in Cold Green House
oops seems I should of read further down as I am interested in this topic aswell. I am going to try using a mini greenhouse with a fleece cover and a plastic cover inside my greenhouse with heat supplied by a small frost free parafin heater. Any else tried it? I have not sown a thing yet and am gett...

Re: What has everyone started off?
Not sown any thing yet. I'm itching to get going. Nearly mid march and nothing in. I put some polythene down on the lottie last week to try and warm the soil so I could sow parsnps. Since then rain, and overnight tempretures dropped and we even had more snow. I am temped to sow in the greenhouse but...

Re: Long handled spades/shovels.
I was lucky and an americam friend got me my long handled spade. I did a lot of searching and found my long handled fork for £25 on amazon. it was under the name of Diarmond Gavin the irish gardener and was delivered promptly and is great. I can fully recommend it. good luck in your search.

long handled tools
I do not know if this has been posted before but I have been trying to puchase a long handled digging fork. I have looked at certain sites on the web but the forks I have seen seem very fragile in that the shank between fork tines and handle are short. If anyone has recently purchased one or regulal...

Re: National Trust endorses liquid gold
liquid gold. one way of putting it. I had a solitary plot once and used to do that out of convienience. I have heard that competition pot leek growers use the diluted first passing of the day to feed their charges and of one bloke who made his wife use a poe first thing in the morning as it was beli...
