Re: Plastic Milk Bottle

i use 2 litre bottles filled with water to weigh down edges of fleece and plastic sheets.

they do dissintegrate after a few years so it pays to coninuously add new ones and scrap oldest ones.

Re: Autumn Bliss raspberry canes

ive got some autumn raspberries that i bought maybe 25 years ago , ive never pruned them bar strimming round the perimeter of the slowly expanding patch and cutting out random pathways through it to be able to reach the fruit. i get early summer fruit on the old canes and later fruit on new canes. i...

Re: What's the point of ditches?

30 years ago you could legally bury dead livestock or phone the local hunt kennels, now your supposed to pay for incineration. is it any wonder wildlife finds dead sheep before the owner?

its the same with rubbish , make disposal difficult or expensive and you get more fly tipping.

Re: What's the point of ditches?

Re: What's the point of ditches?

is the offending tank a fiberglass onion shaped thing? not that it really matters cos in reallity youre going to ignore the holy bottom and plead ignorance if officialdom notices,... perhaps if it was pumped out in dry weather it would be possible to patch it from the inside either with fibreglass o...

Re: What's the point of ditches?

bashing a hole in the bottom of a septic tank seems ludicrous... its bound to fill with ground water in wet weather and leak raw sewage continuously, round here they just lay land drains from near the end of the soak away or drainage field to the nearest ditch...that way the end of the soakaway is a...

Re: What's the point of ditches?

the ground is like a sponge, when its damp the capillary action between the soil particles and the organic matter itself combine to retain moisture in the soil mass, in extreemely wet periods theres more water than the soil mass can hold internally so it lies as puddles, bogs or drains sideways into...

Re: The Referendum

dont panic, as the referendum draws near, assuming it actually happens, there will be an excess of half truths and downright lies from both sides .
imho all debate should be banned till a week before the vote
