Re: Most hated weed.
Marestail - mare's tail - is rampant on all our allotments, the roots go on for miles, nothing seems to work. I read recently you have to 'bruise' the weed before spraying with weedkiller, so will have to try that, but so many other demands on my time on the allotment.

How dispiriting. Maybe some sort of a deterrent in the form of a smell to reclaim your territory. Hair? urine?. Electric stock fencing? - but expensive. There may be some advice available through your local council.

Re: Potato blight
Well, my potato plant had collapsed, brown spots, yellowish leaves - I guess I just panicked! No flowers on my spuds at all so far, eveyone else on the site has loads, perhaps its the variety I've planted, whose name I have forgotten - doh!

Well I hadn't thought of sun scorch, I haven't thrown any potatoes away and only the tops of one so no loss incurred.

Potato blight
How disappointing, went to allotment this morning to pick the rest of the broad beans, and my potatoes are showing signs of blight. They haven't even flowered yet. Anyway, have cut off affected stems and leaves and taken away. Will have to keep a close eye.

Re: Courgette and squash prob
Haha! Thanks for that - I will leave them alone. My small allotment site of 30 plots is very strictly regulated and mainly 'farmed' (as they will call it) by old timers who enjoy dispensing advice and wisdom!!
