I remember cycling in Scotland in winter - snow on the ground - and stopping to eat lunch in an old abandonned quarry. Lots of holes in ground, steam rising. Then we saw rats.. whole quarry infested .. must have been 1,000s.

We hastily left...

I have these white worms plus red banded worms plus slugs in both of my pastic compost bins. I leave all to thrive (literally thousands of white and red worms). I feed the compost with citrus, teabags, wet newspaper and ALL our kitchen vegetable and fruit waste - except cooked food and bones. (we ha...

My local police forced my neighbour to put up signs warning of her anti-climb paint. She had painted her downpipes as the b####ers used to climb onto her falt roof. So she painted a sign in black anti climb paint.. as it is dark when they do it:-)) They stopped. I find old engine oil mixed with grea...

The crystals are probably coming from the "super absorbent layer" found in most disposable diapers. This layer consists of paper fluff and a chemical absorbent called sodium polyacrylate. Sodium polyacrylate is an amazing water absorber -- it can absorb 200 to 300 times its weight in tap w...

I buy all my seeds on ebay - often 2 years out of date. I save a bout 60% on purchase price and germination is usually as normal.. except Impatiens - which is poor.
Tomatoes? Still using a 2004 packet!

Our local foxes are very timid...we only see them early am or very late pm.

This does not stop them or the badgers digging up our lawn for worms or using aprt of our garden as a toilet..

Mind you the fox sett is only 50 metres away from our garden in the fields behind us...

I use brown bread crust with the crust section speared by the trap. We had a mouse in the house last week: trapped in a cupboard, put baited trap in a corner near cover (this imo essential) and 30 minutes later mouse squashed..

Try your local supermarket(Morrisons, Tesco, Asda do cheap oils). All sell budget 20-50 oils around £5 per 5litre cans...

Or your local Motor Factor (Yellow Pages) should have one...

Or Aldi/Lidl should be cheaper than anyone:-)

I grew garlic 20 years ago. The plants still appear where they are not wanted... depite harsh winters or warm winters.

It's now a weed in our garden and VERY hardy:-(((((((
