Finished planting out the foxgloves in the borders and have a nice crop of Chinese greens in the greenhouse. Folk all around are giving away apples galore so I've been freezing apple sauce and making apple cakes. Next half decent day will find us covered with muck as it's pond cleaning time.

Still waiting for the deluge to cease. The council have given us daffodil bulbs to plant in the green verges locally, to cheer us up in the springtime, but it's a bit grim outside today. Hopefully it will ease up tomorrow. Just hope the local neighborhood watch doesn't mistakenly report me to the fu...

How about decorating the fence with something, put in a few hooks and hang an attractive ornament on them, little mirrors, pretty teapots hung by their handles and filled with bird food? A sort of "pimp my fence" idea.

I know how you feel - but what about a dogwood in a pot, or Arbutus or Witch Hazel, underplanted with winter pansies - or a large pot with a trellis framework of Hamamelis.
