Re: The Referendum

I see we have a date for this nonsense now.
That's good - I do the bookings for our local hall so that will bring a nice £100 - polling station - for the hall funds.

Re: The Referendum

I guess this referendum nonsense will just go on and on.
We will keep having referendums until will give the government the answer it wants ie the correct answer - just like in Ireland 2008 and 9.

Re: New year Bits and Bobs.

Congratulations to your niece. OH have you forgotten your biography is already out there - now back in print. Published around 1950 so that gives us an idea of just how old and wise you really are! Its a great read and I thoroughly recommend it. Maybe it is time for your niece to bring things up to ...

Re: Tapioca

Hello Binky Tapioca is like Marmite - you either love it or loathe it. Personally I'm a big fan of all those old fashioned milk puddings like rice pudding, ground rice, semolina and tapioca. Round here you can still find it in health food shops but as you say its disappeared from the big shed stores...

Re: Moving soft fruit bushes

Hello Fred I'm not very keen on moving old fruit bushes. If you've got a fresh patch of soil in good condition, I would buy in some fresh stock and start again. Old bushes have a limited span maybe, 10 years or so, for producing good quality fruit. They will probably have acquired a good few viruses...

Hello Westi
In my book there are only two colours for decorating: Magnolia and white!
What could be simpler?

Re: Porrage.

Hello S M I have spoken with the Kitchen Lady (DW) who makes the most excellent porridge for us several times a week. She says there is only one make worth getting and its called Mornflake and to forget about the rest. Its in most supermarket sheds. We dare not argue with her on kitchen matters so t...

Re: Windows 10

Well after waiting for the dust to well and truly settle I've upgraded to 10. All went well though it does require a little patience as it took nearly 2 hours. My laptop just gone with it all by itself and towards the end restarted a few times, part of the process I think. As is usual with MS you fi...

Re: November planted potatoes

Hello Pawty
Charlotte is really a salad potato and won't roast very well.
Potatoes for roasting need to be dug and then bagged for at least several months before roasting. As you have found out their water content is too high for successful roasting if freshly dug.
Try mashing them.

Re: Over 60's hair cut rate:)

Hi Catherine
I can recommend a clipper cut. A number 4 or 5 would suit you nicely I'm sure. They're only £7 round here! It is all over in 5 minutes as well.
I've heard that OH uses his secateurs to keep his curly locks tidy.

Re: Don't panic.

Hello Primrose I wonder if your problem with the black text on a glaring white background could be something to do with the settings on your display. I get a very light grey background with dark grey text. Outside of this area there are borders of a mid-grey. All displays will some means of altering...

Re: Don't panic.

I'm not too fussed about the colours. However why does the page now spread itself right across the screen. It seems to have been optimised for the handheld brigade who love poking and swiping their little screens. I have a desktop with a large screen and posts are displayed as long lengths of text s...

Re: Grass cutting dilemma.

Hello R I have a big Honda HRX. Its an all singing, all dancing dual purpose machine with a double blade - the larger lower one is 21in. It is a superb machine. It has a lever at the rear that you can pull across the machine to switch from mulching to normal cutting with bag pick up. The strong poly...

Hello Ps
Agree with Primrose.
Put a roof on it, cut out a pop hole and you will have a perfect chicken coop.
