Re: Definition of quick growing

Mine seem very slow compared to the lettuce planted at the same time & radish planted later.

Brought a couple of different varieties to try.

Re: Storing Seeds

Spent today sowing seeds and find that most of the seeds are sealed in a kitchen foil type packet inside the paper jackect. I was not aware of this as never opened a packet of seeds before, so thinking all this storing in the fridge over winter was a waste of effort. There was a couple of freebee pa...

Great productive day here full sunshine all day. Got the raised beds finished and composted. Forecast good for tomorrow so hopefully get the grass under control.

Re: Lawn Mower Maintenance.

I used have a lawn mower that never had a change of blades must have had it 10+ years. Now taking a serious interest in new garden it seemed to make sense to have a sharp blade. I notice that towards the end of last year the grass showed a yellow tinge at the top and looked torn. Thanks for your com...

Re: Bread making corner

Thanks for the info on what you use. I have been using 225 grams each of Allison strong & Tesco own normal flour, 1 tps sugar, 1 ½ tps Allison quick yeast, 1 tps salt and 300ml of water. I have been experimenting with the water by adding more. I have been using a tin but intend to try a cottage ...

Re: Bread making corner

Thank you Richard.

The recipe I have been using says 1 tps sugar, 1 ½ tps yeast & 1 ½ tsp salt and just bung it all in for mixing in the food mixer..

I have cut it down to 1 tps of salt as it tasted to salty but will give it ago with a pinch.

Lawn Mower Maintenance.

Second year use of my Bosh electric mower. I have a new blade ready to be fitted for use this year.

Should I expect to have to replace this mid season?

What are your thoughts/experiences

Re: Growing height

Thanks for your comments... The fence is 6 ½ ft high and I intend to place the raised bed about 18 inches away from it so I can get around the back. The bed will not be walked on. Originally I was thinking of around 4ft or at a push 5ft high, would this be ok for tomatoes, peas & cucumbers? If s...
