You lucky chap Stephan I have only had the pleasure of one of his lectures. There is a video by him called "No Dig Potatoes from seed to harvest" on youtube.
Perhaps ask Charles your contamination question for his comments.

"Obviously the Charles Dowding method might be an alternative approach but that limits what one can grow. I can not see it supporting root veg."
Are you certain on this as sure he grows root veg.

Re: Composting
A lot of the terms are very misleading and to me are meaningless. I have 4 compost bays on the go, using tea bags have not been a problem, was in the darlek type but not in my hot ones. I assume plants do not consume plastic so wonder if this is a major issue for veg growing. The suppliers should be...

Re: new built house garden - getting the soil ready for planting
For veg raised beds, lay cardboard then fill with manure & compost and leave over winter to let the worms do there work.
Check out Charles Dowding videos on how successful this is.
Good luck Carmen.

Battery Return
Needed to return a battery for vacuum cleaner under guarantee, found that no delivery company would handle it. Fortunately the company gave me a full refund with having to return it when I told them. Waiting for delivery of another battery to see who delivers it. Could be a challenge if using a supp...

Burnt Wood
Anybody heard of this? Did you know that if you want to help preserve wooden garden frames, raised beds and the like... you can burn the surface. This wood charring method has been used from way back in Japan to increase the durability markedly. So no need for tanalised timber, no messing about with...

Re: Giving Up Meat
China had a go at stopping more than one child I believe. "I know in days gone by, especially in the country, the contents of the outdoor privy or "thunder box" were routinely used for composting or fertilising rural vegetable patches, apparently without too much harm to humans when t...

Giving Up Meat
Got thinking the other day whilst sorting compost bins on what would happen if everybody gave up eating meat, how would the earth get fed? I understand cow poo goes on the land for fertilising and is also used for growing mushrooms. Chicken poo is good for fertilising the land. Sheep poo not sure ab...

Re: Oops - is this aimed at me? (Or you?)
"In my late Mum's day, smell and tast was all that was rrquired" Sadly all that has gone from the supermarkets, unless you like the smell of plastic. As for taste never know anything better since growing my own. Local supermarket used to have a deli all gone, same with fresh fish counter, ...
