Flavour of the all gold was fine Primrose, I trim only what has fruited and the lower part of the canes give an early crop next year before the next years canes produce their late crop

Well, I just picked the last few all gold raspberries today and a few late cape gooseberries - but the outdoor grapes are still small and greenish with a slight blush - what a year !

if you count the cost of your petrol too that makes them very expensive leeks - If I need veg I get local from farmers market or when mum was so ill and I could not leave her to garden, a veg box scheme which is is cheaper than supermarkets and they deliver. I am trying this year to grow it all and ...

Hi Primrose, in the past I have grown various salad leaf mixes OK in winter, on a south facing windowsill or in the lean to greenhouse which faces south, when really cold or snowy indoors is best. I think it depends what you like and personal taste, there are some winter hardy lettuce that I squeeze...

That is a huge depth of soil to lose. without natural soil structure a drought and high wind would have done the same.

Yes OH, it's definitely pleasurable work, though it does require some work and knowledge on our part to supply the crops particular needs :D

same with our outdoor grape - those in the lean to conservatory have ripened very late and gave an excellent crop, will be putting the surplus in the drier to make raisins lol. usually in a good summer we have an early crop inside and late crop outside from the same old vine - just not enough sun th...
