Re: Oh rats!

They are extremely fond of peanut butter too, and one of our pest control suppliers produces a poison paste based on peanut butter. You have to be extremely vigilante about dogs though (actually once I had a cat that liked peanut butter...)

Re: Summer bits and bobs

Looks as if it is going to be good berry picking weather today, well i'm hoping it is. And good for picking more runner beans too, thought i would just add this. Your'e just teasing me again OH, aren't you? I am content with my broad beans right now, I am sure it will be quite a while before my run...

Re: Paraffin greenhouse heater

My problem was all sorted when I shortened the wick! My dad showed me how low it should be and low and behold it worked perfectly for the couple of weeks that I needed it. Somehow it seemed counter-intuitive to me, but matched the instruction pictures perfectly and all was well.

Re: Olympic Games tickets,

We applied, we wanted to give our boys the chance to say they were there! We have tickets to something as £108 left our account last month (fortunately Lord Coe won't get far on my VISA debit!) but we don't know what for. I think Tim is going to try for something else on the French site tomorrow, bu...

Re: Best/worst thing since sliced bread?

I make a loaf probably every day in my panasonic (thanks for your help last year JohnN), but I got it off ebay as a lightly used model. I paid £31 plus £10 delivery and it replaced my last one which broke when it fell off the counter - my fault as I put it on a slippery counter saver and it moved in...

Hi NB, was it you who grew a purple pea last year? If so, did you save the seed and grow more this year?

Re: Magpies on my birdfeeder

I am wondering if there is a shortage of natural food at the moment? Along with the tits, magpies, pigeons on the ground, wood peckers, nut hatches etc, I saw a squirrel hanging on it this morning. I mentioned my concerns at the pet shop and they said that quite a few people are saying the same thing.

Magpies on my birdfeeder

My peanut feeder is suddenly being visited by a couple of Magpies! I have never seen this before, but one of them looks quite practised and efficient at getting the peanuts out while the other (young I think) hops around picking up what has dropped. The woodpeckers are getting quite cross because th...
