I've had a Mantis for 2 years and it's pretty good. Worms don't get chopped although they do get slung out sideways at pretty high speed sometimes. My only problem is getting stones stuck in the tines. You can remove the tines by pulling out a pin but it's bloody difficult to do without a hammer and...

Thanks for that charming information; if it does that to chickens heaven only knows what could happen to us! I'm ready to keep mine in their shed should AV hit UK shores, I'm lucky (and so are they) that I only have three girls now and a very large garden shed that's their home so for us it could be...

Thanks for the info; I've had a look at the DEFRA website.

Under the list of symptoms is "oedema of the head", does anyone know what this looks like?

Thanks

I do give them worm treat etc but to be honest not as often as I should. They get a couple of handfuls of both every month if I remember, but that's all. One thing I did do, after speaking to WW helpline, was put an old woolly jumper on top of the compost. The worm duvet that came with the kit disin...

I've had a Wiggly Wigglers wormery for a couple of years and think it's great. It lives outside the back door so everything that comes out of the kitchen goes straight in and unlike a compost heap you can put cooked vegetables and fruit in with no fear of rats. Provided you add at least one third pa...

Otherwise, I'm going to the Ryton Potato Day so I'll pick some up and post them for you if you like. If you have any preferences let me know, otherwise just quantity r...

Ryton Organic Gardens here in Warwickshire have a Potato Day on 29 January and I know there are others taking place around the country. You can buy anything from one tuber upwards of hundreds of varieties so you could try a different variety in each pot! They also have talks and all sorts of ancilla...

I'm the Secretary of our association and as such have all the files. Unfortunately these are all hard copy, and most are hand written; until I took over a couple of years ago nothing was done on computer. If no one else comes up with what you need I'll have a rummage around and type ours up for you. ...

The article on drying veg "Food to dry for" appeared in the October 2003 issue of KG. If you don't have a copy, send me a PM with your address and I'll send you the mag, for some reason I have 2 copies of this one.

Seeds of Italy

I'd like to recommend Seeds of Italy, not only for the fantastic value of their seeds but also their fantastic customer service. I've been buying from them for several years and the number of seeds you get for your money puts the UK seed manufacturers to shame. Also, having bought some onion seeds a...
