Re: "How to grow tasty tomatoes"
We only grow grafted toms now, as we do cucumbers. They have a much bigger yield and rarely suffer from lack of water. We do San Marzano for cooking and preserving and a range of others for eating, baking, salads, etc, including cherry, purple, black and beef varieties. We grow them in a tunnel in b...

Re: about losing weight
I would offer 2 contributions...........as I manage Public Health in my job, Slimming World has the greatest success in getting people to lose weight. My other offer would be that Michel Roux has done extensive research into the use and impact of eggs and he has failed to find a connection between w...

Re: Shallot problem
Why don't you go back to Marshalls? We had a dodgy delivery of Strawberries this year and they agreed to replace them. The second delivery is much better quality.

Re: Snakes Head Fritilleries
We lost all of ours this year too and I assumed it was because of the wet. Our land tends to be rather damp and we've had a fair amount of rain, so we've lost all of ours.

We don't like the stalks either, whether cabbage or kale. A good M&S product is their creamed cabbage with nutmeg. I aspire to produce that!

Re: Parsnip seedlings in seed pots
I use Johnboy's system for parsnips. Sow fresh seed onto damp kitchen towel and wait until the seeds germinate. Then sow directly into the ground or use loo rolls, root trainers or those card/coir pots until they get established then tear out the bottom of the pots before planting them into the open...

Re: Tigger OBE
I got it for services to vulnerable people. 39 years in the NHS, third sector and local government, but that's just my job. As far as I know the Department of Health nominated me, supported by the Local Government Association and endorsed by my boss. Since I went to Gloucestershire in 2010 I have do...

Tigger OBE
I got an OBE in the New Year's Honours. Very unexpected but not bad for an Irish immigrant! Do you think they get to see the list in heaven? My dad would be beaming with pride.

You can get them in Waitrose or Marks. We love them although neither of us like sprouts.
