Hi Primrose,
They should be ok, the odd beetroot will get damaged by frost, the only thing not to is to pick the beet whilst the frost is still in them.

New Chickens-pecking order
I have just bought 4 POL pullets and have put them in with my existing 3 hens, and there has been what I can only describe as a mexican standoff!! The older ones have them pinned in a corner of the run frightened to move. Does anyone have any tips for helping them mix in or is it just thepecking ord...

I tend to steam my beetroot, peel them and then just dress them with olive oil and balsamic vinegar, salt and cracked black pepper.
We leave them in the fridge and just keep picking at them everytime we open the door....... very sweet and tasty.......

Beetroot will withstand frost ok as long as it doesnt get too cold-you will lose a few, but the main thing is not to pull them when they are still frozen, or affected by frost, I still use them in the spring when they start sprouting again .........

I have just made Chantal's Chilli Jelly for the third year running -15 jars of it so far and more to come, its the best!!!

Hi, Have posted this previously, Its rather nice and uses up your excess beetroot. This is a recipe for beetroot chutney-very good at Christmas with cold meats. 3lbs beetroot 1.5 lbs of cooking apples 2 large onions Half lb of sugar 1 pint vinegar teaspoon of ground ginger juice of a lemon Boil beet...

Thanks for the replies-I was wanting to freeze them as I am going on holiday and not sure if I will get chance to pick and pod them all. I will endeavour to have a go and try and get them all podded.
