Yes, well done Monika.
Lots of people stress about making compost but I find that if you just leave it long enough (and put in roughly the right proportions of materials - but only roughly) good compost makes itself.

Yes, thanks, I'll do that. I'd love to have morning glory that just keeps magically reappearing in my garden. From (an extremely poor) memory it sounds like the original species that plagues northern Australia.

I've found Edwin Tucker's seeds to be reliable too, and have also bought flower seeds from Plants of Distinction which echoed the report's findings. This was discussed on the radio with someone from the RHS and he said his best germination rate was from seeds he'd saved himself! So maybe that's an a...

Last time I did this (a long time ago!) I got them from a second hand furniture/materials yard. They had all kinds of stuff, Victorian tiles, old chimney pots etc. I would have a look in your Yellow Pages under second hand furniture. Even if the places you contact don't have them, they may be able t...

Yes my sweet peas are still going too, though lots of the stems are very short.
'Mums are a good idea but will take a bit of forward planning. Any scented shrubs or perennials in flower now?

Scents of autumn

I love the scent of my small Katsura tree in the autumn. The falling foliage exudes the smell of burnt sugar.
Does anyone have anything else scenting their garden in the autumn? It occurred to me it would be nice to get some other plants in to add pleasure to the autumn tidy up.

Tigger, you're very welcome. I have far more than I know what to do with. Usually I get about 4.
