Re: Tayberry leaf

Thank you natures babe for your reply. Yes the reason I mention about the lack of flowers is that I suppose if it was a bramble it would be flowering. My question is really about the leaves- the liklihood of them changing from small 3 leaf to larger 5 leaf. Otherwise the plant is growing somewhat li...

A friend thinks it likely that a blackberry has snuck up, but it seems to be growing from the same plant. The new stems are about ...

Blackcurrant-no fruit- when to prune?

Last year someone else pruned my currants. This year there were no flowers or fruit- just some leaf curl. Should I wait to prune- or prune now?
And by how much? ( I am a bit of a novice )
thanks

Thanks Jerry for a great link. What sweet little jars!
Whats your worry about the rubber seal Chantel?
The jar should be watertight when closed. Do you have a recipe for bottling fruit?

I read somewhere that frost ( or freezing ) softens the skins of the sloes.I have just defrosted my first batch and made up a few bottles. The sloes were definately much softer. :? Also not so bitter.

Thanks for your advice and reasurance. Peter- my farmer friend told me that they were ripe- and in fact some are starting to shrivel up on the bush. There are plenty more -so thought I'd try freezing some first. So far I haven't found the definative answer as to when to pick (apart from 'after the f...
