Welcome to the forum Puajj! You can plant your Xmas potatoes from next month. You can plant them in the ground but there is a risk of slug damage as there isn't too much else for the slimy things during the autumn/winter months so if you can get hold of any potato grow sacks or even grow bags stood...

Yes, you can save sweet potato for next year. But need to follow few step. You have stored them in a dry places. Don`t put them in a cool places.
