Grafted aubergine 2nd year

Hi all. I had a couple of grafted aubergines which were very impressive last year. They were grown in the greenhouse border and one survived the winter and sprouted a lot of green growth with very small flowers. They were sold as Scorpion. Im guessing what Im seeing is the rootstock. I thought Id gi...

Liquid growmore

I have (had) a large tub of B and Q growmore granula fertizer that I bought last year. Unfortunately water got into the tub in the winter and its now a tub of sludge. Should I chuck it or could it be diluted as a liquid feed? If so does anybody have any suggestions as the the ratios I should use?

Last years fennel

I tried florence fennel last year from seed and they didnt do too well - probably poor watering and did not swell.

However, several plants survived the winter and are looking quite healthy.

Are they worth persevering with or should I use the space for something else?

Re: What went wrong?

On the subject of butternut squashes, I have them about 90cm apart as per instructions. Have a few cricket ball size squashes that appear to be doing well but notice that a couple have rotted away which were golf ball size. They don't look particularly vigorous. Have courgette plants in the same bed...

Re: Recommendations for short season crops

How about Pak Choi. I'm no expert but pretty easy to grow and I heard that they do better when sown as the days grow shorter. They grow quickly and and in the past they've bolted quickly for me and I read somewhere to sowing them in/from June helps counter this. Great in stirfrys.

Re: Leeks . . . ?

likewise, never done them before and I'm going to give them a go from seed in modules then plant them on. I've been googling the most highly rated type of leek and bleu de solaise seems to be very popular. Good luck.

Re: Winter's final toll?

I sowed early purple sprouting brocoli and in the end had nowhere for them last year. As the seedlings clung on to life I stuck them in the ground at the end of summer. Several have lasted the winter and are a foot to 2 feet tall and appear quite healthy. However there's no signs of any spears. I'm ...
