Re: What do you do with old 'rubbish'?

I have two or three old frying pans. I don't need or want them any more. I don't want t o put them in the bin, ie landfill. And the snobby charity shops won't have them. (I've not even asked.) I remember when I was a skint student I'd have jumped at the chance of kit like this. What should I do wit...

Re: Early Summer Bits and Bobs.

Our Allotment Association had to switch to card as we bank at Barclays and our branch has shut. SumUp was on offer at Toolstation before Christmas at 30% discount so £70 for the tech. Their charges are stated on their website as: "A standard fee of 1.69% per transaction applies for all our card...

Re: Early Summer Bits and Bobs.

Spent the long weekend mostly reroofing a 12'x8' pent roof shed tall front. Complicated by the fact I extended it on the site, down-slope, with the tall bit of roof abutting the right side. Where I had doubled up 3/4" plywood header board with an aluminium panel holding the edge of the Onduline...

Robins

After rotavating I had a few hours fun with robins, one was investigating the rotovated soil and carrying off beakfulls of wrigglies to a nest somewhere. Then another turned up and a fight ensued on top of next doors salad/cabbage tall netting cage, both zoomed off. The original (I think) resumed ac...

Re: What are these invading the plot?

Closest two matches match I can find in the Phone App "LeafSnap" are:

1 Sibthorpia Peregrina AKA Madeira Moneywort, "it forms dense mats of finely pubescent leaves and miniature yellow flowers."

2 Bramble.

Going Green, but not doing so?

Our Allotment provider wants to go green and is advising "a dilute solution of salt" to kill weeds. Thoughts and opinions welcome. I note the RHS counsel against it and point to the Health & Safety Executive as regards what is legal to use. https://www.rhs.org.uk/weeds/weeds-on-hard-su...

Re: Spring Bits and Bobs.

Thought we'd have a sodden match today as I was preparing the container bar. Dark slate clouds to our west, a flurry of hail and a strong shower. All changed by kickoff time, bright sunshine with lighter coloured clouds. A good crowd and thankfully after being thrashed away last week, a convincing w...

Re: Spring Bits and Bobs.

Brief shower this morning, determinably overcast. Yesterdays success was second coat of barn paint on concrete shed door and frame, made a chain of two padlocks and the bits on the door & frame to leave it secure but no painted bits touching each other. Walked the dogs and when we got back it wa...
