Re: Mid Summer Bits and Bobs.

I tried Elephant garlic for the first time this year, along with the normal. Today probably wasn't the best to harvest as even with the air com on in the car on the way home there was such a strong smell of garlic! I thought they were supposed to be milder, but if smell (& wee nibble on site) i...

Re: Has anyone got a deep-filled pie maker?

Due to various circumstances I wasn't able to have my event in April, but was able to use a large garden for it in early May. The weather was glorious so we were very lucky in the middle of what had been very variable. I solved my pie dilemma by not making pies. I made "rat-onna-stick" in...

Re: Some days you just shake your head in disbelief.....

Blame me for the colour, John. These are now almost daily attempts to advertise all sorts of stuff, usually making short or nonsensical comments on very old posts, then changing the content, or adding dodgy links, sometimes they try hard to do sensible posts for a while then do the t op ten mowers f...

Re: Use of well composted horse manure in the veggie plot

Sadly, having been "bit" by horsey people's or their hay suppliers use of Aminopyralid based broad-leaved weedkiller, I'm wary of it.
If guaranteed untainted I'd have it.

KG Forum Maintenance

KG Admin are swapping servers 23rd June 2021.
They've asked if we could be extra quiet that day and not post until they've gone home.
If you post during the day your post might vanish as *****'s law says one of you will pick the exact moment of the swap to post.

Leafsnap plant identifying phone app plumps for Tanacetum Vulgare or Tansy as first choice.
Second choice it goes for Jacobaea Maritima or Silver Ragwort.
Third and we are into Yarrow's Achillea Filipendulina non-native though.

Re: Late Spring Bits and Bobs.

24,000 step by my fitbit today, went for a wander with the dogs and bar a few random spits missed the rain entirely. Roughly 11am to 3:30pm, it's vile and lovely right now.
Vile to be out in.
Lovely for my allotment, the park and all the sproutless spring sown fields.
