Re: Early Summer Bits and Bobs.

Our sites are supplied with water by horse troughs. Four on my long narrow site. Ten rod plots running from main path to boundary on the left, thirty foot along the path, ninety to boundary, five rod plots on the right about twenty foot from path to boundary. Numbered from 1 to 2y but most subdivide...

Re: Early Summer Bits and Bobs.

Interested to see how this turns out. My rainwater harvesting improvement to my site agent shed. Councillors want allotments to be greener,, surprisingly allotments use more water than anything else the town council does. :? Some rather sweetly thought everyone had a shed and space for multiple wate...

Re: Bread flour

We have the Allinson Flour mill in town, it switched to 24 hour shifts early on in lock down. On occasion between five and ten hgvs hauling grain, or empty curtain side trailers collecting flour, have been queueing up . It's in our one-way system with a narrow lane going back to almost the start of ...

Re: Hose Fittings

Copper central heating pipe and jubilee clips for joining sections of hose. The plastic stuff for either end just doesn't last and metal fittings are rare & expensive.

Re: Early Summer Bits and Bobs.

Interesting couple of days. Added the hay from the cowslip patch / car park to my compost bin on Sunday afternoon. 6'x6' slotted concrete 1' gravel boards in slotted concrete posts 4' tall. Stood against one side with barrow to my left adding bundles, spreading and pressing it down. Base of the hea...

Re: Planting brassicas

Compo, I believe brassicas do better in firm ground, less likely to fall over.

Re: Early Summer Bits and Bobs.

Emptied the foremost potatoes tub in the greenhouse and have replanted with sweet peppers. Second feed of delicious first earlies, the ones in the ground at the allotment are probably little marbles, the soil is so dry and irrigating twenty rid by watering cam from a horse trough is impractical, I k...

Re: Early Summer Bits and Bobs.

Have to confess I prefer the outfit in the background..... Meanwhile, keeping on the mowing theme....it's self inflicted hair cut day today... First time, the other month, it went so well...today I misread the comb fittings...and put on the 3mm instead of the 1/2" (3/6).....oh dear... .....

Re: Upside Down Photos

Nothing Barney. Some programs compensate and display pictures as they should be seen, others don't and display them as stored. You either have yo find something that shows them as stored and let's you change and save the rotation to get it as you want it shown. I use ReducePhotoSize on my Android ph...

They vary as I evolved to the described design and one bottom cross piece did snap as I manoeuvred the membrane underneath.

Re: Early Summer Bits and Bobs.

Rained most of Saturday, as well as chipper tank replacement I did some greenhouse reporting, pricking out and rearranging. Even had a clamor two of thunder. Today looked better, did an hours walk with the dogs and took some secateurs with me to improve vision on a couple of cutthroughs. Went to the...
