Re: Summer Bits and Bobs.

I tried making nettle tea as a plant food, never smelt anything quite as bad before, but nettles do have lots of uses, a great substitute for Spinach, but as I don't like that, I don't eat it. You can make strong string from it like Ray Mears, but it's a right faff, so not done that either. [/quote...

Re: Products I've liked

I very rarely like shop-bought or so-called restaurant-bought pizzas. But sometimes you get desperate.

This is the best I've had!

Yeah, I would buy that again. :D

Re: Summer Bits and Bobs.

Blimey. I think I shall flee elsewhere if this is what Scotswomen are like. Male and female nettles? I did get "The Facts of Life" at school, but never got anything like that. If you have a dog or a cat, or even a coo, ye can tell male or female. What the heck am I supposed to do with a ne...

Re: Summer Bits and Bobs.

"God morning", OH? That reminds me that I used to have a T-shirt with the slogan, "I am good in bed...I can sleep all day". Just a silly bit of fun that I got from a market in KL, Malaysia. Unfortunately a moth, or maybe some other beastie ate the second "o" of the shir...

Re: Summer Bits and Bobs.

We're currently renting a house. Gives us time/space to relax and get to know the area before buying somewhere. There's a nice enough back garden but we have everything in containers on the patio. That way we can take it with us when we move on. Mixed results but nearly all good! We bought some plan...

Re: What do you do with old 'rubbish'?

The telephone box sounds like a great idea!

Not so keen on those tw@ts who destroy stuff that others would be grateful for. Posh boys? Ex-Etonians perhaps? How the other half lives, eh?

Re: What do you do with old 'rubbish'?

I didn't even know there was such a thing as a local metal recycling business. Well, I suppose I might have thought about it in terms of BIG business. Are we talking about the likes of Steptoe and Son? It makes me wonder how many people just put stuff in the bin because they don't know what else to ...

Re: What do you do with old 'rubbish'?

Thanks, Westi That's a great idea. They're still useable. But I don't need them. Thanks to government stupidity and lack of professionalism, we had more than a dozen moving home experiences and a lot of places were far from suitable. One place didn't even have beds! Now I've ended up with enough stu...

Re: Does anyone want a quick job in Medway/Kent?

Unexpectedly, a director of the Estate Agent business said that he'd be willing to tidy the garden and his mother-in-law would clean the house.. LOL!

OK. I jumped at the chance. He sent me photos. All done quickly and really well. Good, eh? :D Happy.

What do you do with old 'rubbish'?

I have two or three old frying pans. I don't need or want them any more. I don't want t o put them in the bin, ie landfill. And the snobby charity shops won't have them. (I've not even asked.) I remember when I was a skint student I'd have jumped at the chance of kit like this. What should I do with...

Re: Summer Bits and Bobs.

I love cooking outside and we have more than one BBQ. But we've not had the opportunity this year Sometimes we've been back in Kent clearing out our old house and when up here it's just not been the right weather. I suppose that I could wear a thermal vest and those fleece lined leggings I liked in ...

Olive - a bit dahn souf centric this month

I subscribe to Olive foodie magazine, among others. Delicious is probably my favourite. Anyway, Olive's August edition arrived recently. It's got a feature on four must visit restaurants. Three are in London, one is in Padstow. Later in the mag there's a six page "Guide to Brighton" featur...

Goldfinch

Husband said he'd spotted a goldfinch on his walk to work. And he sent me a link. https://www.rspb.org.uk/birds-and-wildlife/goldfinch What a lovely little creature. We're going to put out some bird feeders to encourage them into our garden and clear some boxes out of the conservatory in the hope of...

Re: Products I've liked

I asked our fishmonger in Kent to get me a flat fish. Whatever he thought was good. He gave us a filleted lemon sole. (I didn't know until very recently that the lemon sole is one of the plaice family.) Anyway, the lemon sole was super delicious! Remarkable, memorable. So, when I saw that Waitrose w...

Cat food packaging

I often like to browse online supermarket products. I like eating fish and so often recently I've been "Ooh, I fancy that!" Only to discover it's cat food. Why? Are cats very clever at responding to adverts? Are cats even discerning diners? Why make a product more appealing to a cat...
