Re: Spring Bits and Bobs.

Bright and breezy with a bit of warmth from the sun, potted the chillies and peppers on into their final pots, now hopefully tucked up warm in the greenhouse.

Re: Spring Bits and Bobs.

Apparently it's the Oxalic acid that cause the problem with rhubub, though I do have a recipe for wine where you use a crushed Campden tablet to nullify that, but just don't bother now.

Re: Spring Bits and Bobs.

Raining up here too today. I gave up trying to grow rhubub in my thin coastal sandy soil, I used to make wine with it years ago, made a lovely Rose type too, it has adverse effects on my joints now, arthritis setting in so I don't eat it now.

Re: Spring Bits and Bobs.

Frost overnight still restricting outside activity up here, only 2 degrees inside the greenhouse, not very Spring like.

Re: Spring Bits and Bobs.

Pleasant enough day today, got some grass cut and a bit more digging of a new flower bed for the wife to play with(she will tell you she is no gardener, but wants flowers for the Bees), have some more Onions and Peas to plant out that are getting in the way in the greenhouse, hopefully do it tomorrow.

Re: Spring Bits and Bobs.

Hi all, been absent without leave, health not too bad, just life getting in the way, hope you are all well. Had a quick scan through to check what you are all up to, lets hope the weather both dries up a bit and warms up a bit too. I've done another short video of what I'm up to for those who are bo...

Re: Early Winter Bits and Bobs.

Can you make a small hot box Westi, some fresh horse manure would be ideal for the job, that way no need for extra bubblewrap

Re: Garden birds in the snow

I begin feeding in late October usually, a peanut feeder to start, then add a fat ball feeder and then sunflower seeds. We have a small feeder that sticks on the living room feeder, the larger birds keep away from that, that just has seed in it. Half a sack of peanuts have gone already and a sack of...
