Re: Grow organic vegetables in small spaces

Welcome Guy.

For growing more produce in small spaces check out "Veg in One Bed, Huh Richards"book.

For composting check Charles Dowding on the web.

My local library has books from both the authors above.

I believe garlic needs a spell of cold weather to separate the bulbs.

Re: Tesco vs Asda on prices

Good that Lidl took an interest shows they care, mostly you come across issues that when you report to company the don't care and it's impossible to make contact with some com. Two examples...eon had pres 1 to leave a reading press 2 for something else mixed up should have been other way round... Tr...

Re: Tesco vs Asda on prices

Has to be Tesco for regular shopping as thats the nearest. I use Lidl when I get £5 off voucher or planning to be in their town.
Lidl fresh veg is better & cheaper than Tesco.

All this talk about it being winter is wishing your life away, for me proper winter starts on the sulstace. Guess I am fortunate as not getting many minus's like others around the country, plenty of water though although looks like first covering of snow this morning.

Re: What are you going to use when peat is gone ?

Forgot to mention I use a lot of Perlite at seed planting time, not sure if this is an alternative to peat.

Wonder what peat in the compost is supposed to do?

Re: What are you going to use when peat is gone ?

Fortunately I have an abundance of home grown compost from 5 pallet size bays plus one extra bay for manure.

I have been adding FBB for couple of years, used potato fertilizer for 1st time last year which seemed to help and using Onion, garlic& shallot fertilizer this year.
