Re: Water pump

There is a Bosch Cordless Water pump system, bit pricy but if you already have other 18v items could be interesting.

Re: Water pump

I used this with 2 reals (25m) attached to each other for going around the plot and find the water power ok.

When I first gat this setup I used it to fill a water butt up with water from a ditch.

Re: Water pump

I to use a bilge pump with 12volt battery attached to garden hose, great for shifting water from the water butt around the plot.

When water butts are dry use a black plastic dustbin on wheelbarrow to transfer water from tap to plot.

Watering

Out with the dog looking at newly ploughed/planted fields and wondered how they get away without watering newly planted seeds/plants. Seems the experts say give your new seeds/plants a good watering when first planted. When planting last week I noticed tops of the beds are dry but further done very ...

Re: PEACE AND QUIET

"vroom vroom noisy motor cars "

Will Electric cars put a stop to that?

Could the future be all electric lawn mowers/rotavators?

I am fortunate as the only noise I hear on plot are the birds, radio and occasional lawn mower and very rarely a motivator.

Re: How many pots do you have?

Not enough it seems as when I start potting up the seeds I have loads but as the day progresses I run out of the size I want.

Re: Early Spring Bits and Bobs

Thanks for the the tip Monika, was made aware of that after doing some research after finding the fawn.

As for the the dog thieves, there was report of 80 stolen dogs being retrieved from a gypsies camp on the local news.

Re: Early Spring Bits and Bobs

Whilst walking the dog found a baby deer curled up in hedge seemed to be abandoned, checked latter in the day and was still there. After talking with local lady about it decided best to collect it and she would feed it, on going back to collect it found the mother was nearby and the fawn was on it's...

"Cut some more PSB today - such lovely stuff. Having it with pasta and ragu sauce for tonight's dinner."

Sounds very tasty to me, going to do mine with lots of olive oil, leeks & pasta.

My thinking is as our bodies adjust to our environment, those that live in less sunny places like Greenland/Norway survive ok as do those that live in sunnier places like Australia.

Re: Late Winter Bits and Bobs.

Most of the seeds planted fortnight ago have been potted up, garlic & onions have been planted in beds with the over wintered ones, broad beans are next to go outside. Mowed the lawn on put gutting in old compost bag in greenhouse which gave a bit of extra heat when we had frost couple nights ag...
