Pruning cherry tree

I have a small cherry tree which I inherited, probably no more than 6 - 8 years old. It produces blossom in profusion but few fruits and what there are drop off within a couple of weeks. It's also getting tall about 2 metres and has lots of upright stems. Can I should I prune it, if so how and will ...

Moving potatoes

Is it possible to move potatoes once they've sprouted. A friend helped me plant and now they're showing I can see that some are just a few inches from a grass path which will cause a world of hurt come harvest - assuming the grass and weeds let them grow!

Apple tree pest

Not the clearest of pictures, but my little apple tree (not sure what kind) is covered in this web stuff. Looks slightly silvery and mouldy especially round the newly growing fruit. Can anyone tell me what it is and more importantly how best to deal with it? Thanks

Cauliflower heads

I have some cauliflowers, some of which I got as seedlings from a neighbour, and others I grew myself from seed. They're good and leafy, but don't seem to be developing the cauliflower head. When should this happen and is there anything I need to do?

Re: Grape vine

Thanks - there is space so I'll get some compost and perhaps also some horse muck on. There are horses next door so I get plenty! I also started to look at training them earlier but I was just about to come home so I'll take another look over the weekend.

Grape vine

I have a grape vine in a large pot in my polytunnel. It's inherited in that the allotment is my sister in law's and I think the vine predates her. The soil is very compacted and probably has never been changed. However I think the pot is too big to move and is metal! I put tomato feed in last year a...

Re: Lack of Swallows this year.

I agree that swallow numbers seem to be down and they seem to be late. As a longstanding RSPB member I'm sorry to hear they were less than helpful. Citizen science such as the big garden birdwatch is usually very important. I think one of the reasons is that countries in southern Europe, notable Mal...
