Re: qualcast suffolk punch 43 carb

I wrote up details of how to set it up in your other thread. Start with the main jet adjuster under the float bowl, then the slow running mixture screw on the side of the carb, the black one just above the float bowl.

Re: Qualcast Suffolk Punch 43s help

Fit the carb, taking care that the linkage on top of the throttle is connected correctly. Connect the petrol and try to start it. With luck it will fire up and run, may need choke, may not. Once warm, choke off and set the throttle to half revs. Start adjusting the screw under the float bowl, try in...

Re: Qualcast Suffolk Punch 43s help

Qualcast used the same engine on a "cultivator" called the B66, actually a rebadged Merry Tiller Cadet but with the Qualcast engine rather than the Briggs that that Cadet came with. The carb problem was even worse on a rotavator as it was usually only used for a couple of weeks a year, so ...

Re: Qualcast Suffolk Punch 43s help

I never saw the adverts for adjustable needles again. Anyway, had a bit of a Google last night and found this, https://www.dellorto.co.uk/shop/dellorto-industrial-carburettors/fhc-fhcd-parts/53064-dellorto-fhc-variable-main-jet-kit/ seems extraodinarily expensive when you can get a whole carb for un...

Re: villiers engine

Villiersparts.co.uk came at the business from the stationary engines side, so may be able to help with identifying the mark from the engine numbers, and are more likely to have rings etc than the Villiers motorcycle engine specialists. Also Meetens near Preston, are garden machinery people, but can ...

Re: Dellorto FHC2013 A

Tecumseh engines were made in Europe by Aspera and used Dellorto carbs. In the US Tecumseh used their own. The Tecumseh carbs look an awful lot like Dellotos, so similar I think they either had a "tie in" or just copied them. Anyway cheapo Chinese copies of Tecumseh carbs are suddenly all ...

Re: What 2 wheel tractor for under £500 used?

You are correct, all Titans made after 1978 had the reverse. Professionals are no good as the sickle mower for them is rocking horse dropping rare, and they won't pull a proper plough. All Titan GTs had reverse and all Titans and GTs had a 5hp Briggs & Stratton except for very early Titans which...

Re: Qualcast Suffolk Punch 43s help

That is the governor linkage and must not be altered unless you know exactly what you are doing. the linkage goes via rods to a lever on top of the carb. If changing carbs, you unhook the rod from that top lever as you remove the carb, and hook the new carb onto the rod as you fit it. Some carbs hav...

Re: What 2 wheel tractor for under £500 used?

I definitely am biased, but a Merry Tiller Titan sounds exactly what you need. Allen scythes are not Tillers. The Titan will rotavate and has a sickle mower and plough attachment. The Titan itself would be fairly cheap, but ensure you get one with reverse, as mowing without a reverse gear, is awkwar...

Re: Qualcast Suffolk Punch 43s help

The plunger with spring under the float bowl is to drain fuel from the bowl. Water finds the lowest point and this provided an easy way to remove it. Those Chinese carbs may, or may not be an easy fit. I often find with "Chinese knock offs" they don't get them exactly right, and some alter...

Re: Qualcast Suffolk Punch 43s help

That is the fixed jet. As I wrote earlier it looks just like a brass bolt head but if you unscrew it you will find the jet passageway from the side, inside the float bowl, up the centre of the brass "bolt" and into the carb venturi. Just at the moment someone in China has got the idea of m...

Re: Qualcast Suffolk Punch 43s help

The fixed main jet looks like a hexagonal brass bolt head and holds the float bowl in place as well as having the jet passageway through it, screw in until tight. The adjustable jet has a brass needle screwed into a similar brass bolt holding the bowl on. So you adjust the needle by screwing it out ...

Re: Qualcast Suffolk Punch 43s help

Last post in this section was mid March so I only check it a couple of times a week. Anyway, the Dellorto was a very bad choice by Qualcast as they had a fixed main jet, it is the one underneath the middle of the float bowl, I see you have found the stuff Clive wrote about it and that you could get ...

Re: Merry tiller super major truck.

Although finger tynes are easy to get hold of, there are almost always pairs for sale on eBay, the truck is more difficult. Although they do pop up there, often they come with the Merry Tiller too, and are quite expensive, though to make one would be even more expensive and require a fabrication sho...

Re: Dellorto FHC2013A Carburetor

"Surprised you can get Tecumseh parts!" It was just after Tecumseh stopped production of engines. Meadowbrook, who specialise in selling new old stock garden machinery parts on eBay, were selling loads of Tecumseh stuff at rock bottom prices, I assume they had cleared the UK Tecumseh impo...
