Re: Growing giant marrows, advice wanted

Snap, be most interested to hear what others have to suggest.

Everywhere I went this year the only plants I could get were Long Green Bush, the variety KG / DT Brown gave away last year which I had dismal success with

Re: advice on downsizing

Have you thought of raised beds rather than dig out the hardcore? I think Pa posted some pics of his raised bed & had a great variety in them. (I'm sure if you pm him he will share hints & tips). ? I'd be happy to. My initial reaction is raised beds would save getting rid of that concrete. ...

Re: Does size matter ?? ...................

I,ve never grown potatoes apart from a couple of attempts in containers. If you keave them in the ground until we have some decent rainfall instead of harvesting them now, will they start to increase in size, albeit somewhat belatedly? If the haulms and all green growth has died back then all leavi...

Does size matter ?? ...................

I have always been under the impression that size did not make a lot of difference, the results could be satisfactory even from below average. Time for me to change my mind because this year my main crop King Edward seed potatoes were far smaller than usual. The 2.5kg bag contained over 50 tubers al...

Thanks for the thought Primrose.

I have already worked out where I hope to be able to get a good view. Sure to be a case of needing to get there early I think

OH, could you be doing the same as I was when I read this,

I was confusing Enorma Runner beans, which have red flowers, with Enorma Butter beans which are white.

I've never grown butter beans

Are beds tailored to the height of the gardener? And I see from your pictures that you have beds of varying heights. Why? Also, how mu...

Re: BELL BINE Help.

When I took over the plot 5 years ago it was awash with bindweed, I dug out bindweed roots by the barrow load, it was like harvesting spaghetti. There were areas where I did not mind using strong weed killer but I found that the bindweed quite often survived enough to emerge again months later . The...

Re: Early Summer bits and bobs - 2018

Another case of irony sets itself before me. I know, because I hear, how the NHS is suffering. But I do find it ironic that given a rare form of terminal cancer and all the attention that entails I can't say a bad word about the NHS or it's staff given the experiences of the last 3 years.. Hope thos...
