Re: Capilllary Matting

I was wondering, how should I clean / sterilise my capillary matting? Could I just put it in the washing machine (providing I don't tell my wife...).

PLUMPUDDING, I was thinking of getting some of this for next season. Do you use pure neem oil, if so what recipe do you use?

Re: WORMERY ANYONE ?

I took a few months before I got some juice out of mine. I've have about 5 litres since about June. You might want to wrap it up if you've got it outside. I've put mine in the garage for winter.

Re: Superoot Air Pots

I normally have some "spare" cherry tom plants and I'm thinking it might be interesting to try 3 plants as follows:
1) plant in a normal pot
2) plant in an official "air port"
3) plant in a DIY pot such as that on youtube...

Re: Polytunnel Cleaning

For info, I've kind of concluded that Citrox is probably the best approach from an organic point of view.

Re: Mildew resistant peas??

Monika, watering outdoors might be a factor as I sometimes forget as I'm concentrating on watering the polytunnel. I know some people talk about using grass clippings as a mulch, but I've never tried that (I don't have access to clippings I can vouch for). I guess I could try planting through plasti...

Re: Mildew resistant peas??

What sort of distance between plants and between rows do you use? I have tended to have about 8 cm between plants. I've tried planting with 2 rows in a trench about 20 cm wide. I've also tried 3 rows in a trench about 20 cm wide. I think I got this from a Hessayon book.

Mildew resistant peas??

After several years of ruined late pea crops (due to mildew), I decided to only bother with early peas last year. I'm wondering, can anybody vouch for some later varieties that they know to be resistant to mildew later in the season and are worth growing? If anyone has any other tips, I'd be interes...

Re: Superoot Air Pots

Good point. It also looks like some of the designs would be difficult to clean.
I see there are plenty of video's on youtube on how to do a DIY version.

Re: Superoot Air Pots

I might buy one and put one of my cherry toms in it and compare....
I wonder if there is a DIY version??
Perhaps this would be something the magazine could do an article on.

Re: Gardening Diaries?

Every time I return from the plot, I update a note I have iCloud (website for apple phones) notes saying what I've just done. I also maintain a microsoft visio drawing of my plot (both for planning ahead and as "as built"). However, I am an engineer....so that kind of thing is just what I ...

I can't remember if I've asked this before, but has anyone tried overwintering their chilli's? Do you gain anything by doing this?

Re: Raised Beds, sometimes I'm baffled

I think some people at using boards just to mark out beds. It might look like they are trying to make a raised bed, but perhaps that is not their intention, it just looks like it is.
