Re: Pampas Grass

Hi Jethro, Have just done it the hard way, A big axe aiming at the plant/ ground junction at 45Deg slowly working around it. The biggest problem was trying to miss the chickens who were determined to catch anything living in there.

Re: Early sweetcorn article...

I'm with Felix on this one, it's the only way I can grow sweetcorn at all, no chance outside. Through flow and shaking give me all I or they need for good crops every year

Re: UK New Poatoes in January???

Hi all, My local Tesco over ordered Charlotte potatoes at christmas and had to sell them at 2P a bag to get rid of them, the same applied to Blueberries but they were 5P a punnet.
I bought 10 bags of the charlottes for friends and kept one as seed for myself.

Re: Feeding a heron

Hi Primrose, Once when I was on a short trip to an Abu Dhabi oil field I was in the swimming pool when a Heron flopped into the pool. It was absolutely done for and would of drowned if we had'nt dragged it out.The next problem was to feed it up back to health and this was helped by the kitchen staff...

Re: Mouse Alert

Thanks for your concern everyone but it was my fault. The Mrs screamed in the kitchen that the cat had brought a mouse in so when I got there the Vole was lying at the cats feet looking quite dead so I reached down to pick it up and it sunk its teeth into the knuckle joint of my left index finger, m...

Re: Mouse Alert

Just a little warning about handling "dead" mice and voles. I was bitten by a "dead" Vole 2 weeks ago and have just come out of hospital after suffering Leptospirosis, nearly had to go on Dialysis but I'm getting over it.

Hi Tankerpilot, domestic heating kerosene works just fine, I have been using it for years. Aircraft Jet A1 is just as good.

Red Cabbage Sprouts!

Hi all, I let a red cabbage go to flower then started dismantling it and inside I found 10 large sprout sized red cabbages clustered round the central flower stem. Is this unusual and if not should it be the way we harvest red cabbage to give lots of individual portion sized cabbage. http://i982.pho...
