Yes, I did that too. The quince cream is delicious with a few freah autumn raspberries too. I will definiteley make this again next year. I did it on bonfire night and everybody who tried it loved it. Most of them didn't even know what a quince was!

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions. Armed with recipes from the internet i have now tried vanilla, blackcurrant, raspberry, strawberry and lemon. They are all much better than anything bought in, Unfortunately now my freezer is full and I can't fit the bowl in to freeze it to make any more. I'...

Well, my husband solved the problem of what to buy by coming home with one of te little put the bowl in the freezer jobs. It was sold ridiculously cheap because the box and the instruction booklet were missing and the staff in the shop couldn't figure out how it works. It's obvious how it works when...

Thanks for the comments. My husband can eat any amount of ice cream and we grow lots and lots of fruit. Last year I made lots of fruit mousses and he loved those ( and so did dinner guests) but I would like to make some icecream rather than buying it all the time. Last year I did freeze down lots of...

Ice Cream Makers
Does anyone have an Ice Cream Maker that they can recommend. I have looked at the internet and there seem to be two types. One where you put the bowl into the freezer for anything up to 24 hrs before making the icecream (roughly £50) and another which freezes the icecream itself and only takes 20 - ...

Any small undeveloped cobs I use as baby sweetcorn. it is delicious. if they have grown a little sometimes the central core can be tough. Just eat around it. I picked some yesterday that had developed half of the kernels but not the rest. I wouldn't waste anything if possible. Cook one lightly and s...

Thankyou forum members
For the first time in many years I actually have a whole row of parsnips with no gaps. Thank you to all those people who said that you could sow them in toilet roll middles and then plant out later. I also have another batch ready to plant. This will be the first time in years that we have had more ...

I grow veg because I enjoy doing it. I also enjoy eating them but is the actual growing that I get the most from. I'm a bit haphazard as a gardener and can waste lots of time watching bees feeding on flowerheads, looking at the variety of insects etc that appear when you are growing a bit of allsort...

Hi Alison, It's the first time I've dried them this year. My husband suggested baking with them but they are so nice to eat that I have some every time I go past.I don't think I'm going to have enough left to do very much else with. I think that they would be nice rehydrated in fruit juice and put i...

Steve, Please ignore all the negative remarks on this thread. We all make choices and what I can't understand is why those people don't just choose to go and read a different topic if they don't like this one. I think there are very many people like me who read this forum regularly but don't actuall...

Drying fruit
I had a glut of pears and the freezer was full so I tried drying some. I just cut them in thin slices, dipped in lemon juice, and laid on baking parchment on trays and put into a very slow oven (E setting on my gas cooker) with the door ajar. They take a very long time to dry but are absolutely deli...

Security
Hi Jane,
Yes, I felt just the same. Especially as I did try to send it in and it came up with a message saying that it was being sent to a site that was not secure and did I want to continue. I backed out then as I feel there are too mant personal details to risk it.
