Hey dirt-digger Welcome! I've not thought of using leftovers as an omlette filling that is another option and could be nice with the burnt edges - certainly comfort food! also think of hanging plants
i grow peas french beans tomatoes in hanging basket have done so for about three years with good crops each year
they grow just as well as if they was climbing up

use egg wash to cote pastry all over before adding filling
the egg wash will seal the pastry
but do it when the pastry is hot
