Weeding in bed of carrot seedlings
I have been nervously weeding by hand in a bed of carrot seedlings. Most weeds are easy enough to identify, but there is one that looks very like carrot seedlings, I don't know what it is called. Last evening I think I spotted a difference that makes it easy to identify the weed. If you look closely...

Parsnip seedlings
I've planted parsnips for the first time this year and am anxiously awaiting the emergence of seedlings. The trouble is that seedlings of every weed known to grow on earth have emerged in the raised bed I have sown the parsnips in! As it is my first time growing them I'm not sure what the seedlings ...

If you want to garden mole free ... move to Ireland. Don't know if they were banished along with the snakes by St Patrick, but we don't have them here. By the way, we don't have weasels either, only stoats. And we love the EU !!!

Got my rootrainers today and have been merrily filling them all afternoon. Good idea about the parsnips, I'll try that tomorrow. I'm growing parsnips for the first time this year.

Do I really have to leave my asparagus untouched for a second year? I've been watching my spears appear this week and looking forward to my first taste of homegrown asparagus. Can I take a small sample or must I restrain myself for another year?

I've been searching for rootrainers in Ireland recently to no avail. I got some locally (Carlow in the aboretum)about two or three yrs ago but have been unable to find any since. Can anybody tell me if they are available anywhere in Ireland?
