Re: Birthdays !

Must admit to having been a 'half empty' person mostly in the past. Cant admit to thinking positive at present, but neither am I thinking negative. In truth I don't tend to think about the alien within. My immediate family treat it with the same humour and contempt as I do and my working on the plo...

Re: Is it you down there, is it?!

Ah-yes, I had many narrow escapes. And why these people drive around thinking no one else uses the roads I couldn't explain, the same drivers can't reverse in a straight line nor do they know or remember passing places. Oh-yes, and, and, guess who the culprits are that throw rubbish out of their ca...

Re: Healthy and balanced diet

We have some forced rhubarb ready for eating. The only thing I don,t like about rhubarb (and gooseberries) is the large amount of sugar required to make it palatable. Any suggestions on how to resolve this? It is what it is and the chemical and other sugarsubs have bad things.. I do not demonise su...

Re: Now it is Spring Time (Confirmed)

Heard a bee! Well almost drowned it as I was watering the violas and it shot away making a terrible din. .. Poor bee! I apologised profusely of course... managed to plant the rest of the second early potatoes and the bigger broad bean and my few precious pea seedlings and am about to deal with emerg...

Re: "the cat did it!"

ikmp.png In this house I am bosscat/dog. Maybe as I am here all day most days. Sure they can boss me around at times but I have the food and the bed! Both are in great demand...sometimes it is not even cupboard love, just sheer affection... the tiny feral girl I took in is starting to trust and to ...

Re: How are your seedlings doing?

All my peas and broad bean seedling trays are outside! More set; cannot find the rest of my saved Carlin pea seeds so this years crop will get saved in total... MAY yet plant out some broad beans...

Re: How are your seedlings doing?

I've stopped trying to grow cat mint as it always gets chewed to the ground despite me making various covers and barriers to keep them off. Another plant with similar sedative properties is valerian the true valerian not the red centranthus. All the local cats come and rub their necks and faces on ...

Re: How are your seedlings doing?

Westi I'm sorry, your plight should not have made me laugh but I confess it did. One of my daughters dogs has been suffering really bad open sores on her nose recently, at first it was thought to be being caused because of spider nests in garden that she kept sniffing around. Few weeks and a number...

Re: Healthy and balanced diet

Morning Richard, it has absolutely nothing to do with others how your routine works. If that routine works best for you, stick to it, as no one really knows how another persons deals with things. I'm often in bed before nine, to try and get a little relief from my back and hip pain, what often caus...

Re: Healthy and balanced diet

I'm with you on that, at every opportunity someone will roll their eyes at my regular drinking. I get up in the morning and make good coffee, two cups. Occasionally a third if I get a visitor who is desperate for good coffee. In the afternoon/evening depending on how sore I feel I have a beer and a...

Re: Now it is Spring Time (Confirmed)

Chilly over here. Taken the dog for a walk; three times round the house....outside I mean! Air is crisp and still with a hint of drizzle which has kept the frost away. My old freezer has been sounding the alarm at night as the kitchen has been too cold Must plant up more peas and broad beans in tray...

Glad you had a saving on your laptop Marigold, expensive investment & you are truly at the lap of the gods whether you get a good one or 'the difficult one' (Excuse the pun). My cheapest was my favourite, gone back to a 'proper' computer now & saved up for an iMac - it's turning out to be a...

Re: Birthdays !

I've reached an age when birthdays are quite easy to ignore. So had I PP , most definitely so. Funny thing is though we all know we are on the path to departing at some point but when you actually get someone telling you outright in no uncertain terms that you've seen better days and wont make it, ...

Re: Healthy and balanced diet

Well any healthy diet here is about to be blown as last night we were facing two big bags of brown crusts (cut off "posh" sandwiches for a charity fund raising event we helped cater for) and a lot of nice mixed sandwiches which were left over. Planning to turn the crusts into tasty garlic...
