leek and potato soup has to be a favourite, leeks are just so versatile, they can be rustic or be made into a nice gratin for more posh ocassions. love them.

Nigel slater has a variety of really tasy recipes using rainbow and swiss chard i believe, google it!

That sounds a bit complicated! i think the only reason i find rice a pain, is the long cooking time. I wouldve thought parboiled would help speed things up but evidently not eh?
