Re: Allotments in Buckingham?

Thanks for the replies. I received a very prompt email back from the Buckingham town council giving me the name and address of the contact for the allotment association. I'll contact them to see where I go from here.

Regards

Re: Allotments in Buckingham?

Thank you for the idea Primrose. I've just emailed Buckingham town council. I have seen a reference to "The Bourton Road Allotment Holders Society" in Buckingham but can't find any contact information. Only a couple of months to the move so not really a problem if I have to wait until then...

Allotments in Buckingham?

Hello All We are planning a move to Buckingham. (I'll need to change my username!) The problem is that we are moving to a new-build house with a typically small garden. I wondered about whether there are any allotments in Buckingham. I've done a search on the internet and can find no reference to an...

Re: Figs

Beryl I'd thought about cracking the glass. I'm going to make a 90 degree bend out of something (not thought what yet) and train the leading shoot around it if and when it gets to maybe 4ft. If it does ever get to what I have in my mind's eye I'm going to have to watch side shoots carefully for pres...

Re: Frost?

Geoff

The other side of the Lake District mountains, here very close to the sea, had frost Sat and Sun night. Still very white at 0930 this morning except in the sun. -1C in the greenhouse last night and 19C now!

Re: Figs

Thank you. The deed is done now. Fig reduced to 2 shoots (will decide later which one to use as the leader - or may use both) about 30" high. Repotted in 40cm cube pot in corner of gh. As I said before, the plan is to let the shoot(s?) grow vertically until they reach the roof (~5ft where it is...

Re: Keith Singleton compost

Monika

Just wondered how you had got on with the Keith Singleton compost. As I said before it is what I tend to use every year because his nursery is close to me.

Re: Inside or out?

Thanks for the comments/suggestions. As far as the need to shade up here in the "frozen north", all I can say is that this year I started to get greenback on the toms, painted the south and west sides of the gh with Coolglass? and toms which set later were fine. There is a fence to the Eas...

Re: Another bit of fun

3.48 x10 to the power 18 barrels. That is 3.48 million, million, million barrels. (I think!). Which reminds me - when I was a lad a billion was a million million. It now seems to be a thousand million. A trillion was a billion billion but now it seems to be a thousand billion which makes a trillion ...

Inside or out?

Hello All This is not a very topical question given the time of year but here goes. I used the white paint shading on the gh this year. While it did put a stop to the greenback on the toms, it didn't look very "tidy" in our fairly small garden. I have been told to do something neater!. I h...

Re: Figs

Hello All I'd like a bit of advice re figs please. I have a fig in a container about 30cm diameter and the same deep. The plant is about 3ft high and has 3 or 4 shoots. It was outside for a couple of years but was in the greenhouse this year (first year of greenhouse). I have had a couple of ripe fi...

Re: soft brown rot of aubergine

Thanks for the reply. I water with tap water, though I have been making up feed from a butt which was new this year and looks and smells clean. There is a small amount of whitefly but nothing too much at all. I found this picture which is pretty accurate except the areas of rot are smaller and more ...
